becommerce coins

The unit you earn and spend across the becommerce exchange — not only inside one community. A coin is not cash, not a card top-up, and not a public crypto token.

You earn them

Members earn coins. Welcome grants, completed exchanges, and community programs add coins to a wallet. You cannot buy coins, and the phone cannot mint them.

Only onboarding staff can issue or retire coins for a community. That is a staff action, not a checkout.

Three amounts on the wallet

Every post has a coin price

The coin price is the settlement amount. When the post is open for exchange, you may also offer goods or a service, plus a coin difference if the two sides are not equal. When that option is off, the post is coins only. “Open for exchange” is a setting on the post.

What moves the coins

  1. Accepted. Coins leave available and sit on hold for that trade.
  2. Both confirm. Held coins release to the neighbor who provided the goods or service.
  3. Both cancel before completion. Held coins return to the member who offered them. No case is required when both confirm the cancel.
  4. Someone reports an issue. Coins stay held until operations resolves the case. See Protection.

The book stays balanced

Each movement is recorded as a matching pair: the same amount leaves one place and arrives in another. The wallet shows the latest amounts from that same update, so the screen and the book agree.
